Fixation Friday in A Pineapple Under the Sea

We are going to New York this weekend to celebrate me getting way too old. And we're doing so with tickets to The Spongebob Musical. I'm staying at my dad's house for about a week after that to FILM MY BOOK TRAILER!!!! But I'm getting ahead of myself. Before I can look at where I'm going, lets take a look at where I've been this week.

Fixations of the Week:

MDWAP Live

Best friend Lee and I attended a live show for the podcast “My Dad Wrote a Porno” this week. I had a migraine. I hate migraines. I still had tons of fun and screamed with laughter. Don’t chew on anyone’s testicles, folks.

Editing Process

I have officially started editing the second half of my novel. I worked on it while I was in Iceland and came home with a cleaned up “draft one” (forgot how I number my drafts? Check out “No Means No.”) but there is still SO. MUCH. WORK. To be done. I have spent this week working on the first two chapters, revisiting “part one” and brushing up my train knowledge. Things are going about as smoothly as I had hoped.

Goucher Visit

You will also notice in the afore-linked blog post that I have a marketing plan for both my book and myself as a writer. I want my author career to give back from the very beginning—whatever resources I have, I want to share. Goucher, my alma mater, gave me the opportunity to get started last week. I visited their Career Development Office and talked with current students about my life as a freelance writer. Did we also talk about horror films and Doctor Who and Stranger Things and Harry Potter? Yes. We did. It’s Goucher, and awesome people go there.
I will be back at Goucher at the end of March to take part in an English capstone class, where I will talk about networking and probably also self-promotion, along with a member of the CDO staff. I’m really looking forward to it, especially since my first talk seemed like it went over pretty well!

Disney Movie Announcements

A very related photo of Ewan McGregor and friend
Mary Poppins Returns soon. So does Christopher Robin. Disney took advantage of the Oscars’ viewership to release teasers for two movies that get me SO HYPED to go to the movies this fall. Mary Poppins has been a standard for me since before I knew what Mary Poppins was. And I’m super excited to see what Disney does with the relationship between Christopher Robin and Pooh Bear. Ewan McGregor playing the titular character and Hayley Atwell as his wife don’t *hurt* matters….
